Houston docs

Checking your setup (/doctor)

/doctor reports what Houston can see, in both the desktop app and the terminal:

  • the version, and whether a newer one is out
  • Node and the platform
  • the active model and every provider's key status
  • whether the shell sandbox is actually enforced on this host
  • which external tools (git, gh, rg) are on PATH
  • which language servers are installed, and whether servers are off on this host
  • each MCP server's connection state
  • in the terminal, the terminal's size and color support

Each row is marked healthy, worth knowing, or broken, and anything not healthy comes with what to do about it.

Questions it answers: "is my shell really sandboxed here?" and "why did setting my API key change nothing?" (an environment variable silently outranks a stored key, and /doctor names it).
